چکیده

We describe a multigrid scheme for solving the viscous incompressible driven cavity problem that has been parallelized using OpenMP. The incremental parallelization allowed by OpenMP was of great help during the parallelization process. Results show good parallel e ciencies for reasonable problem sizes on an SGI Origin 2000. Since OpenMP allowed us to specify the number of threads (and in turn processors) at runtime, we were able to improve performance when solving on smaller/coarser meshes. This was accomplished by giving each processor a more reasonable amount of work rather than having many processors work on very small segments of the data (and thereby adding signi cant overhead).

A Parallel Multigrid Solver for Time-Periodic Incompressible Navier-Stokes Equations in 3D

In this talk, we consider the efficient solution of the discrete and nonlinear systems arising from the discretization of the Navier-Stokes equations with Finite Differences. In particular we study the incompressible, unsteady Navier-Stokes equations with periodic boundary condition in time. Our approach is based on a space-time multigrid method, which allows for parallelization in space as wel...

A p-multigrid spectral difference method for two-dimensional unsteady incompressible Navier–Stokes equations

This paper presents the development of a 2D high-order solver with spectral difference method for unsteady incompressible Navier–Stokes equations accelerated by a p-multigrid method. This solver is designed for unstructured quadrilateral elements. Time-marching methods cannot be applied directly to incompressible flows because the governing equations are not hyperbolic. An artificial compressib...

MPI/Open-MP Hybridization of Higher Order WENO Scheme for the Incompressible Navier-Stokes Equations

With the contemporary emerging transition for the past two decades in high performance computing (HPC) towards clusters of nodes, it is possible to obtain an efficiently scalable CFD code by hybridization of Message Passing Interface (MPI) and Open Multi-Processing (Open-MP). The parallelization of an incompressible higher order DNS solver using Navier-Stokes equations utilizing WENO (weighted ...

External and Internal Incompressible Viscous Flows Computation using Taylor Series Expansion and Least Square based Lattice Boltzmann Method

The lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) has recently become an alternative and promising computational fluid dynamics approach for simulating complex fluid flows. Despite its enormous success in many practical applications, the standard LBM is restricted to the lattice uniformity in the physical space. This is the main drawback of the standard LBM for flow problems with complex geometry. Several app...

Numerical Study of Flow in a 2d Boiler

We present a numerical study of flow in a 2D chamber of a simplified industrial boiler. The study features multiple cases of flow with different inlet settings. The mathematical model is based on the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and solved numerically by means of finite element method. The time discretization is semi-implicit and the resulting linear systems are solved using multigrid...
